There are some absolute inevitabilities in life, especially the longer you live it. You’re going to make it into the shower without remembering your clothes (or a towel); the doorbell’s going to ring while you’re on the toilet and you’re all alone at home; you’re going to accidentally knock over a glass of milk or a cup of tea and hate yourself for the mess you made; you’re going to wish that you were dead.

She was wearing her widest smile so he knew she was happy to see him. Every single time he scheduled a meeting he worried they would have figured it out so it made his heart lurch to see her look so happy to see him. But he knew what he had to do and he was determined to earn his pay cheque. She put her huge bag down and he got an eyeful of cleavage. She was generous, even when she didn’t plan it that way. She climbed aboard the high stool and asked with a smile, “What are we drinking?”

He stepped out of his apartment building and looked suitably surprised to find that it was raining. He stared up at the sky, getting rain water up his nose in the process, and spluttered, “But it’s November!”
A car pulled up besides him and the driver, a girl, rolled down her window, “It’s not good to get caught in unseasonal showers. You could fall sick.”
