Better With Experience

It’s amazing how bobbing up and down like this can be so therapeutic, she thought.

There was a temptation to look up but she didn’t want to lose her place. There just needed to be something so…clockwork about the whole thing. You had to maintain a steady grip, find a comfortable position and get used to a sort of monotony.

Once she was away, she became aware of the sounds…so liquid, so full of a certain tension. There was always a certain amount of tension associated with the activity. You had to be ever watchful or everything could get really messy, really quickly. You had to get used to the motion and the rhythm, measures had to be taken to speed up or slow down, and most importantly, a girl had to get used to the smell.

The first go around could be the hardest, with all the sensations serving up a potently overpowering mix but like everything else, becoming better at it afforded the greatest comfort in the actual activity.

She had taken several discursive journeys through memories, doubts, moments of guilt, feelings of shame and rare occasions of triumph while in the act. She just had to remember not to let the memories in her head affect her actions in the real world, especially not when she was so close to the end.

And afterwards…wobbly legs and salty skin simply served as badges for a job well done.

God, she loved sailing!
